The District Prosecutor of Baja Verapaz reported that, through the special procedure for acceptance of charges, a judge issued a three -year prison sentence against the investigator of the investigator of the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation (DEIC) of the National Civil Police, Gerson Doroteo Adquí García.

The conviction was for the crime of passive bribery, the Public Ministry (MP) reported.

According to the investigating entity, on December 23, 2023, Adquí García was appointed for the search and location of a missing teenager; However, what he did was demand money from the victim’s mother.

He argued, first, that he needed the money for fuel, because “I was difficult to locate her daughter”, and then to travel to Petén, where he had located the minor, which was false, “added the MP.

In total, he received Q1,100 from the child’s parent, according to the investigation.
