Inhuman to the Ramírez Valdez brothers, accident victims caused by trailer without brakes

The remains of the Douglas and Keneth Ramírez Alvarado brothers, 21 and 14, respectively, were buried this Monday, March 17 in a cemetery in Palencia, two days after they lost their lives in a traffic accident in Km 12.5 of the route to the Atlantic, where a trailer without brakes rammed several vehicles.

In the accident a couple who was traveling on a motorcycle also died, and whose bodies were under the tires of the heavy vehicle that crossed the opposite lane.

Douglas worked in a call center, according to relatives.

“It was his first job and he struggled many years to learn that language – English – that he liked so much,” explained Katherine Arévalo, a relative of the deceased young man.

He reported that Douglas dreamed of continuing to work on his family; In addition, he said that one of his desires was to build his house.

“Kenneth was very kind, cheerful and liked the cars. At his house they follow the toys he used, we saw that he had talent for mechanics,” Arévalo added.

Kenneth was a basic third, he said.

On the day of the accident, the Ramírez Valdez brothers left with their mother from Palencia to make some purchases, but on the way they were rammed by a trailer.

His mother, Sandra Valdez was the only survivor, but still recovers at the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, where they have to practice surgery in one of the legs.

This Monday, relatives and relatives gave the last goodbye to the brothers in a chapel of zone 9 capital.

With coffins surrounded by flowers and candles, Kenneth and Douglas were remembered as active young people.

Both belonged to a Scout group for 10 years and for that reason a green handkerchief was placed on the coffins, as a symbol of the passion they always delivered in the group.

For this family, Douglas was the one who saved his mother’s life, because shortly before the accident he asked him to place the seat belt.

“We are many families that were mourning for these accidents, we would like to do something so that this does not happen again. We want to become aware,” Katherine Arévalo explained while describing that the absence of these young people will be irreparable for the family, so they expect justice to be done.
