CDAG presents an appeal before the Constitutional Court after the suspension of the Transition Commission of the National Cycling Federation

The struggle for the power of the National Cycling Federation does not cease. This is because the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala (CDAG) presented an appeal before the Constitutional Court (CC), after a room decided to restore the interim Executive Committee.

Monday, the Sixth Chamber of the Administrative Contentious Court He issued a provisional amparo which ordered the reinstatement of the previous leaders of cycling by granting them a provisional protection and suspending the 33-2025 agreement issued by the CDAG last February, which created a transient commission.

“Of that account, this jurisdictional body constituted in the Constitutional Court of Amparo, in accordance with the principle of process and law defense guaranteed in the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala, which govern any administrative procedure, considers advisable, in the case of the provisions of article 28 of the Amparo Law, Personal and Constitutional Exhibition grant interim protection, With the following scope: a) during the processing of this constitutional guarantee, The agreement is suspended number thirty -three diagonal two thousand and twenty -five script ce script cdag (33/2025-CDAG)dated February twenty, two thousand and twenty -five, issued by the Executive Committee of the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala“, Part of the document granted by the provisional protection to the Interim Executive Committee of the National Cycling Federation, which had granted five days to inform the court to comply with the order issued.

With this, the CDAG seeks that the CC fails in its favor and thus reinstall in their positions to Víctor Manuel Castañeda (President), Hugo Martínez (Secretary) and Paul Briere Samayoa (Treasurer), to continue their functions as a transient commission.

The sports entity established in its appeal the rejection of the resolution and requested that the background to the Sixth Chamber of the Administrative Contentious Court be required and, having said documents, resolves the appeal for the appeal of the provisional protection.

This situation comes to destabilize cycliststhe least responsible for this power struggle, since doubts have arisen that activities already scheduled in the 2025 calendar can be canceled. At the time the Transitory Commission and the Interim Executive Committee have stressed that this would not affect the already scheduled powers.

Although it is uncertain how far the pulse can end by taking absolute control of the National Federation of Cycling, the legal battle on both parties will continue until it is known if the CC grants the appeal presented by the CDAG or leave it without place; and the amparo granted to the interim leaders is fulfilled.
