The Ministry of Planning and Programming of the Presidency (Segeplan) launches on Thursday the Scholarship program for our future, which is committed to forming human talent in the most requested areas of the labor market, and whose demand will remain in the next five years.

The options at the university level include degree careers, university technician, masters and doctorates. Technical courses are also offered – channel in trades.

While the applicant can choose the career you want to study, Priority will be given to those most demanded by companieswith greater probability of professional growth and employability. The list mentions careers related to information and digitalization technologies, data science, cybersecurity, software development, physical and social sciences, among others.

This does not mean that careers are excluded; However, those who choose to professionalize in fields with more job opportunities will be prioritized.

Segeplan guarantees only the study opportunity, although it does not rule out that, in the future, alliances are generated with the private sector for the hiring of the graduates of the program.

“With the scholarships of tourism technicians, there we could guarantee employability with the Inguat – Guatemalan Institute of Tourism – because it has already talked with the director and we know the need of these technicians,” said the Department of Communication of Segeplan.

The intention of the scholarships is to benefit young people without access to the university. Preference will be given to the population of exclusion and in regions with less educational offer.

You can choose to study in the country or abroad. In the latter case, the person must ensure that he was already accepted in the academic program of the university he nominated.

Segeplan’s scholarship fund amounts to Q250 million and will be administered by the National Mortgage Credit (CHN).

Once the applicant has exceeded the entire selection process and signed the contract, the CHN will contact it to open a monetary account in the bank, from which the disbursements will be made. These will be subject to the fellow to meet the administrative requirements established by Segeplan.

There are complete and partial scholarships. These can cover the payment of registration and registration, monthly payments, teaching materials and support for monthly stipend or complementary expenses related to studies.

Scholarships that are traditionally delivered Segeplan are financed by international cooperation, while those granted in the Scholarship Program for our future They are covered with funds from the Government of Guatemala.
