The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, responded on Monday, March 31 to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, with a “forward together!”, After the thanks for accepting a new group of 17 migrants expelled by Washington, whom he called criminals.
Grateful for his words, President Trump – Bukele wrote in X and added -: Go ahead together!
President Trump thanked Bukele on Monday for accepting migrants expelled by Washington and assured that he is giving them a “wonderful” place to live, although most have been imprisoned.
This transfer took place after a new operation carried out on Sunday night, according to Bukele, in which 17 alleged members of the Aragua Train (ADD) and the MS-13 were sent from the United States to El Salvador.
Most migrants sent to El Salvador have been held in the Center for Confinement of Terrorism (CECOT), the megacárcel that has become a symbol of the Bukele War against gangs.
Neither the US government nor that of El Salvador have provided evidence confirming the belonging of those deported to the MS-13 and the Aragua Train, both declared as terrorist organizations by Washington.
The United States has not informed about the nationality of deportees, but the Salvadoran government said that among them there were Salvadorans and Venezuelans.
On March 15, Trump has already ordered the expulsion of about 200 people to El Salvador, mostly Venezuelans, a decision that is currently being litigated in court by civil rights organizations, such as the American Union of Civil Liberties (ACLU, in English).
Trump carried out these expulsions invoking the law of foreign enemies of 1798, which has only been used three times in history: during the war of 1812 and the two world wars.
