In Morales, Izabal, 10 people indicated to integrate the criminal structure “Los Cats” were captured.

The Public Ministry (MP) reported that, in monitoring of the proceedings coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office against kidnappings, this Thursday, April 3, the capture of 10 people linked to the kidnapping of a senior citizen was reported.
According to the MP, the kidnappers demanded Q300 thousand to free the victim.
He added that the incident occurred on October 23, 2024 in Morales, Izabal.
According to information on the fiscal staff, after the negotiation the members of the criminal structure received a payment of Q7 thousand 487 and, the next day, they released the victim.
Those captured in Morales are syndicated from the crimes of plagiarism or kidnapping, murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy for the crime of murder and conspiracy for the crime of aggravated robbery, said the investigating entity.
According to MP investigations, they are also involved in other cases that occurred in October and December 2024, when they committed several crimes, robberies and conspired to perpetrate other crimes.
“Structure cats linked to kidnappings are dismantled in Morales, Izabal. The 10 objectives have been captured,” Government Minister Francisco Jiménez said in X.
