Hundreds of faithful Catholics accompany Jesús de Las Palmas in one of the processional tours planned for this Sunday, April 13, Palm Sunday.

The Holy Image came out on the shoulders of the devotees loaders from the temple the rectory of Capuchinas. The image began to travel the streets of the historic center around 7 am.

During the passage of the image, whole families appreciate the procession, while others seek to decorate the route with the burning of fireworks.

Remember loved ones

A shift accompanied by a floral crown was placed on arm number 1 of the walk of the consecrated image of Jesus of Las Palmas, a shift that could not be taken by the devotee to whom it belonged to.

This is the Escobar Hernández family, who arrived this Palm Sunday as every year to participate in the festive procession, however, a family member was missing.

Mario Roberto Escobar Rodas would be turning twelve years of bringing Jesus of Las Palmas on his shoulders, but died in August 2024 because of cardiac arrest.

His son Samuel Sebastián Escobar, at twelve years follow the legacy of devotion. “I remember that when he carried me on my shoulders and now that he is gone, there is a void in that procession. Now that I charge this procession I remember him. This procession brings me as many memories with him, as the saying of such a stick says such a splinter,” Samuel said.

The legacy of faith and devotion that Samuel lives at his twelve has passed from generation to generation, today he could have shared a turn with his dad, but that did not happen. “I felt that he was accommodating me in that turn, very beautiful, since I shared it a couple of times with him,” he recalled.
