Guatemala selection He will face Panama, El Salvador and Surinam in the last round of the Concacaf Qualifiers, with the aim of being one of those classified to the next edition of the World Cup, which will take place in 2026.
The World Cup ticket will be carried only by a team, which ends at the top of the classification of group A, after six dates played between September and November 2025.
Gonzalo Romero and Byron Pérezformer soccer players and also outstanding national selected of yesteryear, shared with Free press and gave their analysis regarding the aspirations of the bicolor.
Byron Pérez, who as a footballer played three World Cup qualifiers, reacted to the raffle and declared that it will not be easy for Guatemala.
“We have won more to El Salvador. But we must take into account that in the tie things are different. We do not have to trust and say that we are going to win, nor to Surinam, you have to play the games and take the caste,” he said.
Gonzalo Romero, who played the tie to Germany 2006, sees it “complicated”, especially because of the presence of Panama.
“There is no easy way, it is a even group. Panama has a current one that makes a difference, but it will not be easy for them,” he said.
“Actually it is always complicated. We statistically have the advantage that we have not lost in qualifiers against Panama, but we have hardly played. Guatemala must become strong at home, people’s support is fundamental,” Romero continued.
“This is the way, it is viable to fight for the direct ticket,” he said.
