Monitors of the controlled municipality program of the Comptroller General of Accounts (CGC) They located hidden medications in desktops, Lockers of staff and boxes within offices of the National Hospital of Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango.
Among the medications found are: antipyretics, anti -inflammatories, analgesics, diuretics, antihypertensives, proton pump inhibitors for gastritis, muscle relaxants, contraceptive, antivirals and vitamins.
The monitors also found antibiotics, anesthetics used in the treatment of congestive heart failure, anticonvulsants, beta blockers for asthma and rehydration sera.
In addition, they identified medications in poor condition by rupture of the cold chain, such as carbetocin and human crystalline insulin.
“These medications should be protected within the Juan José Ortega National Hospital warehouse of the municipality of Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango, and carry an internal procedure for the care of patients who require different services,” said the CGC.
He added that the team of monitors carried out the corresponding legal procedures, which allowed to collect indications on the fact, and requested the support of the National Civil Police for the crime of Theft of medicines and medical supplies in the hospital.
