He Donald Trump’s government has carried out numerous operations in the Caribbean Sea as part of his plan to combat drug trafficking cartels.
Actions include the deployment of naval vehicles, exercises and training with live fire, as well as operations to destroy alleged drug boatscoordinated by the president with the Department of Defense, to confront drug cartels.
On October 5, during the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the US Navy, Trump assured that the recent attacks against drug boats have been so successful that “there are no more ships left to attack.”
“In recent weeks, the Navy has supported our mission to completely eliminate cartel terrorists… We no longer find any. Not even fishing boats, no one wants to go into the water anymore”, he noted.
The president also warned that, since there were no more boats at sea, drug traffickers could move their operations to the mainland.
“Now we will have to start searching on landbecause the cartels will be forced to do so,” he emphasized.
Experts point out that the president’s statements could give way to a new phase in his military deployment in the Caribbean Sea, which has generated conflicting opinions, mainly on the part of President Nicolás Maduro.
During his speech, Trump announced a new attack that occurred on the night of October 4, The fourth being against alleged vessels transporting drugs.
