A large fire was recorded this Tuesday, April 21, in a housing complex under construction located on 4th Avenue and 16th Street, zone 10, which forced the mobilization of specialized units and generated moments of tension, reported the Municipal Firefighters and Volunteer Firefighters.

The fire originated on the eighth level of the building and, in a few minutes, spread to the 14th floor, which complicated control efforts due to the height of the structure and the presence of flammable materials inside.

Rafael Zúñiga, spokesperson for the Municipal Firefighters, reported that it was necessary to use ladders and attack the flames from the outside, due to the conditions of the property. “Specialized personnel and equipped units were mobilized to deal with the incident,” he explained.

The work was made difficult because the building has not yet been delivered, although it already has wooden finishes, an electrical system and a false ceiling, which favored the spread of the fire.

The Volunteer Firefighters reported: “They are working to extinguish a fire that originated inside an 18-story building, which is under construction, located on 16th Street and 4th Avenue, zone 10 of the capital.”

First responders continue with efforts to put out the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
