Vinícius and Mbappé save Real Madrid in a gray victory against Alavés

Vinícius and Mbappé led the victory against Alavés (2-1), in a lackluster victory for Real Madrid, which is going through a season finale without titles in dispute, except for a disaster for Barcelona in the League. The white team, in need of the support of its fans, left doubts despite the result, especially due to the closure of the team led by Quique Sánchez Flores.

Real Madrid presented themselves to their fans with a feeling of examination. The Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which on other occasions has been a severe court, this time seemed more like a tired crowd. The team arrived after an irregular month, with three defeats and a draw that left them out of the Champions League and with few options in the League.

There were whistles, although more routine than protest. They were heard at the beginning of the match, especially towards Vinícius, and in the final stretch also towards Camavinga. The atmosphere reflected resignation in a season that threatens to end without titles.

The technician moved pieces from the beginning: they entered Carreras, Tchouaméni and Huijsen, while Mendy, Brahim and Rüdiger left, who returned after Militão’s annoyance before the break. The Brazilian left the field as a precaution.

Alavés, with the pressure of relegation, opted for order and withdrawal. However, the match lacked rhythm during the first half hour, with Real Madrid lacking depth.

The opening of the scoring came through Mbappé, in a play with deflections that dislocated goalkeeper Sivera. The goal allowed the white team to gain confidence and improve for a few minutes.

Before the break, Alavés created danger with a shot by Toni Martínez on the post, which kept the scoreboard uncertain.

In the second half, Vinícius extended the lead with a powerful shot from outside the area and turned the whistles into applause. At 2-0, the game seemed defined.

In the final stretch, the coach made variations with the entry of Camavinga, Mastantuono, Brahim and Carvajal, in search of giving minutes and adjusting the performance.

The closure left one last shock. Toni Martínez scored in the 94th minute, after a play that included a shot against the post, which caused new whistles in the stadium.

Alavés was close to adding points and will depend on other results to avoid the relegation zone. Real Madrid, for its part, achieved a victory that does not dispel doubts and maintains its distance from a still dissatisfied fan base.
