The General Directorate of the Penitentiary System confirmed this Tuesday, April 21, the death of a prisoner at the Pavón Rehabilitation Farm, in Fraijanes, and ruled out that the incident was related to a riot or disturbance within the prison center.
According to a statement from the institution, the death occurred during an isolated incident between two inmates, without widespread disturbances of order being recorded in the facility.
The authorities assured that the situation was controlled and that the rest of the population remains protected in their sectors.
The alleged perpetrator of the attack was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, while investigations are carried out to clarify what happened.
The Penitentiary System indicated that it maintains collaboration with the ongoing proceedings and that, for the moment, it will not provide more details so as not to affect the investigative process.
