María “La Unstoppable” Micheo, just days after her fight against Natalie Dove at Madison Square Garden in New York City, returns to the country for a special event. This Friday, April 24, in Guatemala City, he will present his book One life, a thousand falls… and one decision: continuea work in which he shares a personal look at his career, his defeats and the learnings that have marked his path in professional boxing.

The publication presents a different narrative of sporting success, focused on the resilience and perseverance of an athlete who, at 40 years old, continues to compete at the highest international level.

Micheo, who was the first Guatemalan boxing champion and reached number one in the world ranking, seeks with this book to inspire not only sports fans, but anyone who has faced difficult times in their life.

The title of the work reflects the philosophy that has guided the Guatemalan woman’s career. “I do it because I am passionate about it, but also to inspire other people to not give up and fight for their dreams,” Micheo expressed recently before his fight in New York, making it clear that his impact goes beyond the results inside the ring.

Beyond the ring

María Micheo is the pioneer of professional women’s boxing in Guatemala. She was the first woman in Guatemala to dare to enter a sport that for decades was seen as exclusive for the male branch in the region, and she did so when there were no female references in the country. With her decision to become professional in 2018, she opened a door that other Guatemalan athletes who dream of following in her footsteps in the ring are passing through today.

His career speaks for itself. She was the first Guatemalan boxing champion in history, reached number one in the WBA world ranking in 2021, was included in the Forbes Central America list as one of the 100 most powerful women in the region and is the only Chapina boxer to have contested an absolute world title.

True to her nickname, María Micheo does not stop and now comes with a book that summarizes her philosophy of life. “The barrier is in the mind sometimes, we set the limits ourselves,” said the Guatemalana phrase that perfectly defines the message you seek to convey with this publication. This Friday, April 24 in Guatemala, La Imparable will demonstrate once again that its impact goes far beyond the ring.
