The event organized by the El Pilar Hospital and the La Asunción Radiotherapy Clinic, takes place from April 22 to 25, 2026, at the Real InterContinental hotel, and aims to strengthen the medical updating of health professionals, as well as promote scientific exchange and international cooperation in the field of oncology.
The meeting brings together specialists from different countries and seeks to strengthen medical updating in Central America, a region where cancer has become one of the main causes of mortality.
The symposium will address several key topics in contemporary oncology, including:
- Advances in early cancer diagnosis.
- New medical imaging technologies.
- Therapeutic innovations such as immunotherapy and targeted therapies.
- Comprehensive management of the oncological patient.
- Palliative care and psychosocial support.
- Clinical research and international cooperation.

“The continuous training of doctors is essential, this is an opportunity to continue training in all areas of diagnosis, radiology, surgery, radiology, systemic treatment and innovative diagnostic techniques, because we always have to be constantly updated to be able to prepare ourselves in the best way and thus be able to give the best of ourselves to patients,” commented Rolando Obiols, specialist in clinical genetics, subspecialist in genetic oncology, coordinator of the Medical Genetics Unit at El Pilar Hospital.

For the fourth day, a full morning will be dedicated to patients, family members, caregivers or those who have gone through these diagnoses, a day to talk about:
- Risk factors for liver cancer and colon cancer,
- Caring for the caregiver
- Diagnostic management
- Nutrition of the cancer patient
- Exercise of the oncology patient
- Management of ostomies and resolution of doubts.
