The coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, assured that there is no clear favorite in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, although he acknowledged that the German team has been more consistent throughout the season.
“C.“I believe that we are the two best teams in Europe,” stated the Spanish coach in the conference prior to the first leg. “In terms of consistency, Bayern is a little above, because they have only lost two games, but as a team we are at the same level. I don’t see any team better than ours,” he added.
Luis Enrique highlighted that it will be a duel between two teams with an offensive vocation, so the key will be to maintain the balance between attack and defense.
““They are very dangerous on the wings, but if we want to win, our full-backs, Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, will have to attack more than defend,” he explained.
The coach also valued PSG’s recent experience in this type of instance. “We have been in the semifinals in recent editions and that helps. I tell the players to enjoy these moments, because you don’t always get that far.”he commented.
In addition, he assured that the team arrives in optimal physical condition and with high motivation. “It’s the special thing about the Champions League, it gives the players a different energy. At this point, everyone knows what they have to do. The coach, more than anything, must control the euphoria,” he said.
Luis Enrique also praised Bayern and its coach, Vincent Kompany, whom he rated for his offensive style. “They are one of the most attractive teams to watch. It will be a tie that will be defined by small details,” he concluded.
