On Sundays in May they bring the play “Marcelino bread and wine”, the story that tells the moment when a convent of Capuchin friars arrives at its door, a child wrapped in diapers, on a light blue cloak.
The friars baptize him with the name of Marcellin; They take care of him, protect him and educate him, and, above all, they give him a lot of love.
As the years go by, Marcelino – a playful and curious child – goes up to the attic of the convent and discovers an image of the crucified Christ.
The miracle happens when the image comes to life. The little boy shares bread and wine with Jesus. This is where the great miracle occurs: Marcellin’s hope becomes reality.
The work is under the direction of Óscar S. Puga. In this season three talented children play Marcelino. Ángel Adriel, only 4 years old, playing the youngest; as well as Juan Martín Choriego Barneond and Ian Alexander Rosales García.
Sergio Luna, Roger Ovalle, Leonardo Palencia, Isaí Larios, Adolfo Portillo, Oswaldo Contreras, Carlos Leiva, Luis Choriego, Francisco Trujillo, Ricky Quijada, Yuliam Palacios and Melany García, as well as its director, will also participate.
In this Franciscan year, we celebrate within the work with allusion to the theme of the 800 years of Saint Francis of Assisi.
