The first day of the Clausura 2026 quarterfinals left favorable results for three of the visiting teams and a tie in the most striking series of the round. Cobán Imperial beat Mixco 2-0 at the José Ángel Rossi Stadium with goals from Ángel Cabrera and Janderson Pereira, in a dominant performance by the Blue Princes that leaves them one step away from the semifinals.
Antigua GFC defeated Comunicaciones 3-2 at the Pensativo Stadium with goals from Maziero, Santis and Castellanos, although the Cremas scored with goals from Espino and Vuletich to maintain their chances. Municipal, for its part, beat Guastatoya 1-0 at the David Cordón Hichos with a goal from José Mena in the 72nd minute in a match marked by the surprise resignation of coach Pablo Centrone hours before the match.
The most balanced series was that of Marquense and Xelajú MC, who tied 1-1 at the Marquesa de la Ensenada Stadium in an eventful match where the Superchivos played for the most part with ten men after the expulsion of Antonio López in the 32nd minute. Widvin Tebalán opened the scoring for Xelajú in the 48th minute but Diego Casas equalized for the Leones in the 59th minute, leaving the series completely open for the second leg on Sunday at the Mario Camposeco.
With the four results defined, the rounds of the quarterfinals will be played this weekend with very different scenarios for each series. Cobán arrives with the most comfortable advantage with two goals difference, while Municipal and Antigua arrive with a one goal advantage each. The only equal series is that of Marquense and Xelajú, where the tiebreaker criteria favors the Superchivos for having finished better positioned in the Clausura table.
