“We begin May, the Month of Work, a date that for us at Bantrab has always been the heart of our calendar. But this is not just any May; this year, our celebration has a historical nuance: we are commemorating 60 years of institutional life. We believe in the value of people and their work; our purpose is their well-being and their future,” said Fernando García, director of the Commercial Division of Bantrab.
The bank was born on October 1, 1965, thanks to the contributions of thousands of Guatemalan workers deducted from their salaries and, now, six decades later, with this agenda, Bantrab reaffirms the commitment to continue accompanying the Guatemalan worker at every stage of their life.
Initiatives to recognize the worker
- Letters of recognition. On May 5, teams from the bank will take to the streets to deliver letters of recognition to Guatemalan workers in high-traffic points in the capital (CENMA, La Sexta in zone 1, Renap Roosevelt, zone 9 and Plaza Barrios) and in the departments of Quetzaltenango, Cobán, Mazatenango and Zacapa.
- 1,000 recognition medals. From May 11 to 29, they will be delivered to the bank’s 184 Business Centers nationwide, as a tangible symbol that the worker can take home.
- 440 commercial and financial advisory activities. From May 4 to 29, the bank will hold events in its Business Centers to bring workers financial solutions designed for their reality.
- Three Regional Worker Fairs. One per region (Northeast, South West and Metropolitan), lasting two days each, with product stands (savings, loans, cards, remittances and insurance) and social programs such as BanConsejos, GuateAprende, Mujeres Líderes de Bienestar, Bienestar Mayor, Sports Cluster and Health Cluster.
- PIACE Fairs. From May 26 to 29, 7,200 clients of the Comprehensive Care Program for Special Clients will be served by invitation in a family and recreational experience.

Job opportunities
Doris Cubur, Talent Attraction Manager at Bantrab, presented the second line of the agenda, focused on opening doors to Guatemalan talent:
- Recruitment events in five Business Centers: 7th avenue zone 9, Portales, Centra Sur, zone 1 and Santa Catarina Pinula.
- Bantrab Employment Fair with three editions: May 7 at the Parque de la Industria (capital), May 12 at the Nij Hall (Quetzaltenango) and May 26 at the Multipurpose Hall (Cobán).
- University Tour of Employability and Workplace Wellbeing in ten universities: UVG, Davinci, USAC, URL, Galileo, GAIA, American School of Management, ESI, UNIS, Grupo Buro.

Worker Award 2026
The most emblematic initiative of Labor Month is the Worker Award.
- 315 silver statuettes will be awarded at eleven galas: four in the Northeast region, four in the Southwest, two in the Metropolitan region and an international gala in Providence, Rhode Island, to recognize Guatemalans who contribute from abroad.
- 60 golden statuettes “60 Years Edition”, a unique and unrepeatable distinction that will only be awarded on this occasion, will be awarded at the Grand Gala, on May 28, to recognize those who represent the soul of Bantrab over six decades.
“Bantrab remains firm. We have grown steadily and are today a stronger bank, but the most important thing is that we have done so without betraying the essence with which we were born,” García concluded.
The initiatives will take place throughout the month in different parts of the country. Detailed information about each activity will be available on social networks and on the landing page elmesdeltrabajo.bantrab.com.
