The announcement of the retirement of José Manuel “Moyo” Contreras this Friday generated a wave of messages of admiration and affection from the most important figures in Guatemalan soccer.
References from Chapín football who shared the field and saw the historic Communications midfielder play spoke out through their social networks to recognize the career of one of the most important players that Guatemalan football has produced in recent decades, filling an announcement with emotion that moved all the national fans.
Carlos “El Pescado” Ruiz, all-time top scorer for the Guatemalan National Team and Contreras’ teammate, was one of the first to speak out with a strong message. “The best 10 in the history of Guatemalan soccer. Legends never die,” Ruiz wrote. Agustín Herrera, a former Mexican soccer player who shared many games with Contreras in Communications, also dedicated a message to him from his Instagram stories. “A pleasure to live those and many more moments with you brother, an exemplary career full of successes.
