This Wednesday marks the third edition of Expo Bodegas, an event that brings together representatives of the industrial, logistics and industrial park sectors of the country.
During the inauguration, the president of the Winery Guild, Guillermo Furlan, stated that the winery, industrial parks and logistics sector has become one of the pillars on which the present and future of national economic development are built.
Furlan said the numbers back up that claim. According to a market study of the sector, in the metropolitan area there is a supply greater than the 6 million square meters, distributed in more than 414 active industrial projects by 2026. In addition, there are more than 10,890 active industrial units in the country.
The leader highlighted that the growth is also reflected outside the capital. According to the latest market study, Intermediate cities register a growth of 19%, which shows a national expansion of the sector.
“It is no longer just the metropolitan area that is growing, but many other areas of the country are developing,” he said.
He added that this growth is driven by factors such as nearshoringmacroeconomic stability, the demographic bonus, the availability of competitive electrical energy and the interoceanic connection, conditions that – as indicated – differentiate Guatemala from other countries in the region.
Furlan also highlighted the progress of the Public Special Economic Development Zones (ZDEEP), which There are already 5 million authorized square metersa figure that projects the country as a logistics node with regional ambition.
“We are facing a historic opportunity,” he concluded.
