Police rescue pilot and recover tanker with more than 3 thousand liters of fuel

The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that this Thursday, May 7, agents recovered a tanker truck that was transporting 3,600 liters of fuel and that had been stolen at kilometer 97 of the route to Puerto San José, Escuintla.

He added that the police action arose after a citizen complaint alerted that several armed people intercepted the unit’s march.

After activating search and tracking operations in the sector, the police located the tanker among sugarcane fields, at kilometer 92 of the same route.

The vehicle was transporting approximately three thousand 600 liters of fuel of different types, the PNC added.

According to the police report, they located and rescued the pilot in the transport unit.

Upon noticing the police presence, several individuals fled among the sugarcane fields, the institution indicated.

At the site they also found another tanker, which would presumably be used to transfer the stolen fuel.

The investigation continues to identify and capture those responsible for this criminal act, the PNC stated.
