Guatemala already knows its four representatives in the 2026 Concacaf Central American Cup. The classification of The four spots are distributed between Antigua GFC, Municipal, Deportivo Mixco and Xelajú MC in what will be the largest participation of Guatemala in the history of the competition.
The qualification system for the Central American Cup awarded four places to Guatemala based on the results of the Apertura 2025 and Clausura 2026 tournaments. Antigua GFC and Municipal secured their tickets by being champion and runner-up of Apertura 2025 respectively, while Deportivo Mixco guaranteed their historic participation by being the second best team in the accumulated table without a guaranteed ticket after reaching the semifinals of Clausura 2026.
Xelajú MC completed the fourth place by qualifying for the final of Clausura 2026, displacing Comunicaciones who would have obtained the ticket if they had advanced. VRemember that the Superchivos were runners-up in the previous edition of the Central American Cup, so they arrive with experience and knowledge of the regional tournament that will give them an important advantage.

A historic challenge
The draw for the 2026 Central American Cup will be held on May 26 in Miami, Florida, at 6:00 PM, where the groups and rivals of the four Guatemalan teams will be known. The tournament will start between July 28 and 30 with the group stage and will close on December 2 and 6, 2026 with the grand final, where the champion will obtain direct qualification to the round of 16 of the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
With four teams in the regional tournament, Guatemala will have its largest representation in the history of the competition, in what promises to be a participation that will test the level of Chapín soccer against the best clubs in Central America and the Caribbean in an edition that will bring together 20 teams from across the region in four groups of five.
