Starting May 12, Guatemalans will pay less for each gallon of fuel in Guatemalaaccording to the most recent consumer price report published by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM).

He gallon of gasoline higher will cost Q37.56 and that of regular gasoline Q36.56. In both cases, the discount applied was Q1.77 per gallon.

He diesel will also register a price drop, with a reduction of Q2.12. As of May 12, gallon of diesel will cost Q33.81.

The reduction occurs after fuel prices experienced increases, in the second week that the subsidy will come into effect, during the week from May 5 to 11, when premium gasoline increased by Q2.60, regular gasoline by Q2.57, and diesel by Q1.61.

With the new references, the market reflects a partial correction of these increases, especially in gasoline, while diesel registers a decrease greater than the previous increase.
