Real Madrid’s sporting crisis moved this Thursday from the pitch to the stands of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium during the match against Real Oviedo. In the middle of the match, a group of fans displayed a banner with the message “Florentino leave now”, in a clear protest against the president of the white club.
The appearance of the poster provoked a quick reaction from the stadium’s security personnel, who approached the sector to remove the banner and ask the fans involved to leave the area. The intervention caused discomfort among other fans and increased tension within the venue.
The atmosphere became even more uncomfortable when several followers located near the presidential box began to exchange words in a heated manner with people close to Florentino Pérez. Some attendees recorded the moment and the videos began to circulate quickly on social networks.
The cameras also captured the president of Real Madrid visibly upset during the discussion. The images went viral a few hours later and reflected the discontent that exists among a part of the merengue fans after two consecutive seasons without winning titles.
The incident occurred just days after the press conference in which Florentino Pérez ruled out resigning and confirmed the call for presidential elections at the club. The protests registered at the Bernabéu show that a part of the fans does not share the board’s calm speech and demands changes in the team.
