The Traffic Department of the National Civil Police and the Extraurban Passenger Transport Union (Gretexpa) This Tuesday, May 19, they signed an administrative agreement for inter-institutional cooperation in matters of safety and road safety education.
They explained that the agreement will allow the implementation of a permanent training program in road safety, defensive driving, first aid and road education aimed at pilots who operate on extra-urban routes nationwide.
They stressed that with these actions they aim to reduce traffic events, improve service to users and strengthen coordination between authorities and transporters.
It was reported that the training will begin soon and will take place in different parts of the country.
The agreement was signed by the head of the Traffic Department, Commissioner General Carlos Fuentes, and Gretexpa authorities.
It is also contemplated to verify the solvency of the pilots’ licenses and that these are those indicated to drive passenger transport units.
According to the Traffic Department, some pilots have been placed at the disposal of the authorities for altering driver’s licenses.
The objective is to professionalize the pilots who travel different routes every day and avoid risks for users.
Gretexpa indicated that it has gradually complied with the implementation of speed limiters, in accordance with the current standard, although it noted that the main factor is also human resources.

The General Directorate of Transportation will support the registration of pilots and will also manage a strategic alliance for the training of drivers.
He added that there are currently 200 companies registered to implement the speed limiter.
