Likewise, on the list of sanctioned figures are the Minister of Justice, Rosabel Gamon Green; the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la Levy; the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo; the Minister of Communications of Cuba, Mayra Arevich Marín, and the former vice prime minister Roberto Morales Ojeda.

A few days before, Major Generals Eugenio Armando Rabilero Aguilera, head of the Army, had been sanctioned. Eastern; Raúl Villar Kessell, head of the Army Central; José Miguel Gómez, head of Military Counterintelligence, and Army Corps General, Joaquín Quintas Solá, vice minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).

The US puts pressure on the Cuban regime

According to the American television network NBCNewsthe new sanctions occur after the Department of Justice announced that it plans to charge the former Cuban ruler Raul Castro94 years old, for his involvement in the death of four civilian pilots of the organization “Brothers to the Rescue“, in February 1996.

Therefore, through a digital statement, the Secretary of State, Marco Rubioindicated that the American president donald trump “continues to take decisive action to protect the national security of the United States and deprive the communist Díaz-Canel regime and Cuba’s military forces of access to illicit assets”.

“These members of the regime elite and these government organizations, including officials and military personnel associated with the Cuban security apparatus, are responsible for and have participated in the repression of the Cuban people,” added Rubio, who assures that these sanctions boost President Trump’s campaign.

“Actors aligned with the regime are responsible for the suffering of the Cuban people, the collapse of the Cuban economy, and the exploitation of Cuba for foreign intelligence, military, and terrorist operations. The designations further restrict the Cuban regime’s ability to suppress the will of the Cuban people,” he added.

Bloodbath in Cuba

Given this situation, after acquiring 300 military drones of Iran, Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed that his country has the absolute and legitimate right to defend itself: “Cuba is already suffering a multidimensional aggression of the United States and there is no excuse to impose a war against the noble Cuban people,” he argued.

“Cuba does not represent a threat nor does it have aggressive plans or intentions against any country. He doesn’t have them against USA nor has he ever had them. The one who threatens another country with military aggression is the United States, and this, in itself, constitutes a crime international,” declared the President of the Republic of Cuba during a press conference.

Finally, the Cuban president warned that a military attack by the United States against his country would have devastating consequences for both parties and the region: “If it materializes, it will cause a untold bloodbathin addition to the destructive impact for regional peace and stability,” Díaz-Canel concluded in his message.
