Agents from the Tourism Security Division (Disetur) rescued this Tuesday, May 19, a juvenile owl that remained on the road to Santa Catarina Palopó, Sololá. The bird was delivered to Conap for evaluation and safekeeping.
According to the PNC, the agents observed the bird on the asphalt and acted immediately to prevent it from being run over or suffering damage.
The owl was protected by the police, who coordinated its delivery to the staff of the National Council of Protected Areas (Conap), the entity in charge of evaluating its health status and determining the procedure for its recovery and subsequent return to its natural habitat.
According to preliminary information, it is presumed that the bird fell from its nest and became disoriented. Owls are nocturnal birds, so exposure to daylight can affect their visibility and make them vulnerable to predators or other risks.
