Microbus crashes into wall in zone 18 and leaves several passengers injured

A collective minibus crashed this Saturday, May 23, against a wall on Diagonal 25, in front of the Los Caracoles cemetery, zone 18 of the capital, and left several passengers injured, some of whom were expelled from the unit, reported traffic authorities and witnesses.

Officer Silvin López, of the Municipal Transit Police (PMT) of Guatemala City, indicated that several people were injured and that a woman is in serious condition.

Amílcar Montejo, director of Communication at Emetra, reported on his social networks that the event occurred on Diagonal 25, in front of the Los Caracoles cemetery. He added that the passage from the Maya colony to El Limón was closed, so he recommended using the section of the Maya colony towards San Rafael boulevard and leaving for the route to the Atlantic.

Witnesses indicated that the driver of the minibus was traveling at excessive speed while, presumably, competing for passengers.

“It is unfortunate that they are not responsible behind the wheel. Because of them there is a woman seriously injured on the asphalt, because she was ejected from the minibus,” said one of the witnesses.

Another witness added that relatives of the affected woman will file complaints against the minibus pilot so that his responsibility in the incident can be investigated.
