The Escuintla Femicide Court ruled that Ronal Antonio López Joachin, alias “Indio Cirilo”, faces trial for the crimes against his wife and daughter, which occurred on January 4, 2026 in Siquinalá, Escuintla.
The victims were located on the road that leads to the village of El Níspero, near the local river.
The forensic report detailed that Lenda Ismelda Cárdenas, 18 years old, wife of the accused, had injuries to the neck caused by a sharp weapon, while the girl, 1 year and 6 months old, suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The judge in charge of the process gave probative value to the evidence presented by the Femicide Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry and sent López Joachin to trial for the crimes of femicide and patricide.
According to the investigation, the motive for the double crime would be related to the jealousy of the accused, who believed that his partner was cheating on him and doubted the paternity of the minor.
Due to the court’s workload, the hearing to offer evidence was scheduled for September 29. In this process, the start date of the debate will be known later.
López Joachin was captured on January 9. That day, during the proceedings, investigators confiscated clothing, machetes and other evidence that is part of the investigation.
