There are 200 designs, using 7 artisan techniques: backstrap loom, pedal loom, hand embroidery and crochet, wood carving, natural fibers, blown glass and high-temperature ceramics, they are the soul of this collection, in which each piece is a testimony of the talent of the hands of our artisans, who protect and transmit a tradition from generation to generation, preserving our identity and projecting it into the future.
Guate a Mano has shown that the heart of Guatemala has a place in the most demanding markets. At the beginning of this year, there was notable participation in highly prestigious international venues such as the Madrid Design Festival and Shoppe Objet in New York, events that were a showcase for the exhibition and sale of Guatemalan artisan talent.
With the purpose of strengthening the productive, business and commercial capacities of Guatemalan artisan groups, promoting the connection between the artisan trade and formal marketing markets at a national and international level, Fundación Bi creates the Guate a Mano program in 2023.
Its approach seeks to preserve the cultural value of Guatemalan artisanal work, while incorporating contemporary tools of design, quality and innovation that allow us to respond to the trends and demands of the current market.
As part of the vision of comprehensive development, the program transcends the creative field to strengthen the administrative capabilities of our artisans. Through financial education training, we provide the necessary tools to translate talent into real and lasting economic stability for their families and communities.
