The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) published the table of reference prices for fuels in Guatemala for the week of June 9 to 15. Prices reflect a slight increase. Besides, The subsidy continues in force in the country due to the increase in fuel costs.
Decree 11-2026, referring to the Emergency Support Law for Diesel and Gasoline Consumers, establishes that the subsidy will last for three months or until the authorized budget availability is exhausted, whichever occurs first.
On April 28, the MEM published the agreement that establishes the calculation mechanism to determine the terminal sales reference prices and the reference prices to the final consumer, in order to adequately implement temporary social support for diesel and gasoline consumers.
The objective is to cushion the international rise in fuel prices with Q8 per gallon of diesel and Q5 per gallon of superior and regular gasoline.
According to the update, the reference prices in the terminal (ExRack) were established at Q31.30 for a gallon of premium gasoline, Q30.30 for regular gasoline and Q29.45 for diesel.
Meanwhile, the reference prices for the final consumer at the service stations in Guatemala City are Q34.07 for a gallon of superior gasoline, Q33.07 for regular gasoline and Q32.22 for diesel.
Compared to last week’s prices, the gallon of gasoline increased by Q0.16; Regular gasoline also increased Q0.16 per gallon, while diesel rose Q1.58 per gallon in Guatemala City.
The MEM added that for self-service and full service a difference of Q1.00 per gallon is established between both modalities.
For V-Power and higher gasoline, a difference of Q0.50 per gallon is established between both products.
The MEM explained that the reference table for the municipalities includes a reference range for the variation in prices to the final consumer.
