Agents from the Transnational Anti-Gang Center (CAT) captured a Salvadoran citizen wanted by his country’s justice system for the crime of illicit groups, the National Civil Police (PNC) reported this Friday, June 12.

According to the institution, the operation was carried out by agents from Police Station 13 and by CAT investigators on 20th Street and 40th Avenue in Zone 5 of the capital, where they located Enrique “E”, 31 years old, alias “Barrabás” or “Zorro”.

The authorities indicated that the detainee is wanted by a court in El Salvador, which issued an arrest warrant on May 22 for the crime of illicit groups.

According to the PNC, the Salvadoran is accused by the authorities of his country of belonging to the Salvatrucha gang. However, the institution recalled that the Salvadoran justice system will be in charge of determining their legal situation.

The Police added that, according to preliminary investigations, the detainee was allegedly operating in zone 5 of the capital.

“It is presumed that this dangerous gang member operated in the capital’s zone 5, dedicated to extortion and hitmen,” the PNC reported.

The entity added that the captured person will be expelled from Guatemala and handed over to the Salvadoran authorities to face the corresponding process in his country.

“He will be expelled from the country and handed over to the Salvadoran authorities to resolve his legal situation,” the institution said.
