As part of the commemoration of its 40 years of uninterrupted history, the organization brought together in one place artists, content creators and media directors, important allies to disseminate this news, and at the same time reaffirm its policies of total financial transparency, indicating that 100% of the funds raised in the campaign are allocated directly to the technical and institutional maintenance of the centers.
Prior to the start of the event, several murals were placed with emblematic photos from previous years, reflecting the shower of stars that paraded in the different scenarios that existed during the 40 years of fundraising. An interactive room was also placed with images of the most endearing moments, where the smiles of the symbol children were manifested, as well as the families who were present to give that grain of sand that in the end became millions of donations.
“In these four decades, Teletón has been the catalyst for true national unity, promoting a profound paradigm shift in Guatemalan society regarding disability: we went from absolute invisibility to a clear path of real inclusion and integration,” commented Juan Carlos Eggenberger, President of Teletón Guatemala.
During the evening, the historic social transformation was highlighted that has made it possible to provide nearly 12 million free therapies, consolidating a comprehensive care method that today reaches the most remote areas of the country, thanks to Teletón’s decentralized model through its 19 national rehabilitation centers.

“Today we serve with cutting-edge technology from 0 to 95 years of age, facing new challenges such as the increase in disabilities acquired by motorcycle accidents and conditions such as Guillain-Barré. We invite all citizens and the media to actively join in to continue rebuilding the social fabric in the next 40 years,” Eggenberger added.

This effort has allowed the incorporation of advanced medical technology and robotics, and has also focused priority attention on the interior of the Republic, where the majority of the operating budget is absorbed thanks to direct financing from national revenue. And in recent years in the care of adults with disabilities, many acquired by amputations, strokes and others.

To close the evening with a flourish, the official launch of the song from the 40th edition of the Teletón, Mil Pasos Más, Teniente, performed by the band Teniente, made up of Carlos Peña, Juan Fernando Herrera and Sammy Suárez. An anthem that says a lot about what has been built over 40 years, ensuring rehabilitation in Guatemala and because time is not measured in years, but in what together they have advanced and achieved.
