An operation against drug dealing carried out by investigators from the Police Information Division (DIP), in coordination with prosecutors from the Public Ministry (MP), allowed the capture of a man known as “Canche Loco” during a raid carried out in the village of El Manantial, Flores Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango, the National Civil Police (PNC) reported this Tuesday, June 16.
The authorities reported that the detainee was identified as Julio “N”, 38 years old, who is accused of the crime of illegal carrying of a firearm for civilian and/or sports use. According to police records, he has two priors for aggravated robbery.
During the investigation, investigators located and seized 48 bags of marijuana, 41 bags of methamphetamine, 25 crack rocks and a cell phone, evidence that will be analyzed as part of the investigations related to the possible retail distribution of drugs in the sector.
As part of the coordinated actions against illegal activities, agents from Police Station 42 and prosecutors also carried out a raid in San Antonio Sacatepéquez, San Marcos.
In that diligence, the authorities located a .38 Special caliber revolver and 275 ammunition of the same caliber. The procedure was carried out following a complaint of unjustified shootings.
Authorities did not report any arrests during this second raid. The confiscated evidence remained under the protection of the MP to continue with the corresponding investigations.
