Erick Japa, a Dominican forward with experience in Central and South America, in addition to 10 goals with the Dominican Republic national team, will arrive in Guatemala on Sunday, June 21, to join the scarlet preseason for one year.

Japa was one of the outstanding players in the recent warm-up friendly against Panama.

In an action captured on June 3, 2026 at the Rommel Fernández stadium, Japa disputes a ball with the experienced Panamanian midfielder Yoel Bárcenas. The meeting, held in Panama City, was part of the preparation of the Panamanian team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Municipal Social and Sports Club made official the hiring of Dominican international forward Erick Japa as a new reinforcement to strengthen its attack. The Caribbean footballer joins the institution for a period of one year to face the club’s next sporting challenges.

At 27 years old and with a height of 1.83 meters, the new scarlet attacker will arrive in the country this Sunday to make himself available to the coaching staff and join the preseason work, according to the entity in a statement.

International tour

The forward has experience in different leagues in the region and South America. In his recent career, his steps include Guabirá of Bolivia in 2024, CD UMECIT of Panama in 2025 and, more recently, SD Aucas of the first division of Ecuador during 2026.

In his country, Japa was part of Club Atlético Pantoja and Cibao FC. With this last team he won a two-time league championship in 2022 and 2023. According to the statistics shared by the scarlet club, during that stage he contributed 12 goals and seven assists, in addition to reaching the runner-up position in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup in 2022.

Presence in selection

At the international level, the forward has defended the Dominican Republic shirt in 27 official matches. In those matches he recorded 10 goals between the U-20, U-23 and senior teams, the institution detailed in its welcome report.

With this incorporation, Municipal seeks to reinforce its offense ahead of the start of the next National League tournament, with a commitment to the physical presence and international experience of the Dominican soccer player.
