Ixcán says goodbye to Aurelia Choc and her children murdered in the United States

The Guatemalan Aurelia Choc Cac, 40, and her children Niurka Zuleta Choc, 17, and Anthony García Choc, 2, were murdered in Alabama, United Statesin a case that shocked the Latin community in that country and Quiché, where the remains of the three were laid to rest.

The Facebook page Jr El Castro Transmissions broadcast the funeral services in Ixcán, Quiché. The wake took place in a house with a dirt floor.

The coffins were placed together, amidst floral arrangements and with a photograph of the mother and her children, victims of violence.

A teddy bear was placed on one of the coffins, while a group of people carried out a religious service with songs and prayers.

“It’s something painful, it’s not easy at all,” said one of the people who took the floor to address those present, who lamented the loss of three lives.

“The family is suffering from what has happened, God can strengthen their hearts,” said another of those present.

After the wake, it was time to direct the funeral procession to the cemetery in the village of El Afán, Ixcán.

The bodies were placed in a vehicle for transport to the cemetery and dozens of residents accompanied them in their final goodbye.

Prior to the burial, on Tuesday, June 22, several of those present threw flowers on the coffins of Aurelia Choc Cac and her children, who disappeared in January and were found in Alabama. According to forensic evidence, they were murdered in their home before being taken to a forest.

US authorities confirmed that the bodies were located in a wooded area of ​​Baldwin County.
