The set of Western Asia adds two points after two draws, results that keep it with a real chance of placing among the top two places and advancing to the phase or finishing among the best eight third places. In their most recent match, Iran produced an outstanding performance by drawing with Belgium, largely thanks to the brilliant performance of their goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand.
The Iranian goalkeeper was the figure of the match by making multiple interventions that prevented his team from defeat. Beiranvand repeatedly denied the European team the goal and was decisive in securing the valuable draw that keeps Iran in the fight.
Iran’s journey in this World Cup has been marked by complex circumstances off the field. Due to geopolitical situations, the team can only enter US territory to play its matches and then must move back to Tijuana, Mexico.
Mexico has provided hospitality to Team Melli, which continues to compete with determination despite logistical difficulties.

After the draw in Los Angeles against Belgium, the Iranian team shared a message in which it highlighted values such as peace, respect and unity between nations:

Thank you for the hospitality and thank you to all the Iranians who gave their hearts, their voices and their souls during these 180 minutes.
