The investigation against one ex-teacher secondary school New Jersey, United Statestook a new turn after the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office expand the accusation against Ashley Fisler36 years old, who now faces 12 charges related to alleged child sexual abuse, production and possession of sexual abuse materialas well as crimes linked to his function as public servant.
According to the authorities, the events would have occurred in 2021when Fisler worked as a teacher social studies in the Orchard Valley High Schoolin Sewell, and the alleged victim was one of his students.
What are they accusing the former teacher of?
The investigation began after the young woman, who is currently adultdenounced in January 2026 that he maintained a illicit sexual relationship with the teacher when he was still a minor.
According to the accusation, the encounters would have occurred both in the classroom as in the vehicle of the teacher.
Fisler was initially arrested in March of this year and faced six counts of sexual assault in the first degree. However, the June 24the Prosecutor’s Office presented an expanded accusation that raised the total to 12 charges.

Among the new charges are:
- Production of child sexual abuse material.
- Possession of child sexual abuse material.
- Distribution of obscene material to a minor.
- Pattern of official misconduct.
- Endangering the welfare of a minor.
The messages that are part of the investigation
As part of the investigation, detectives recovered around of 7,500 pages of text messages exchanged between the former teacher and the alleged victim.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, part of that material contains explicit sexual content and would support the complainant’s version of a long-term relationship while she was still a student.
Among the messages analyzed, the researchers highlight one in which the young woman claims to have been “mentally destroyed” for what happened, according to documents cited by local media.

Prosecutors maintain that this digital evidence also supports charges related to the alleged production and possession of child sexual abuse material.
The defense rejects the accusations
The defense attorney, Rocco Cipparoneassured that the messages used by the Prosecutor’s Office were taken out of context and questioned whether they constitute sufficient evidence to support the most serious crimes.
The defense maintains that investigators have presented only fragments of the conversations and that these do not reflect the full context of the relationship described in the court file.
Ashley Fisler worked as a teacher at the Washington Township School District between 2014 and 2023.
After Once the investigation is known, the superintendent Eric M. Hibbs reported that the former teacher is no longer part of the school district since April 2023 and noted that the educational authorities are fully collaborating with the investigation.
“We take matters related to the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously,” the district said in a statement.
If Ashley Fisler is found guilty, the penalties could be severe:
- Up to 20 years in prison for each charge of first grade.
- Up to 10 years in prison for each charge of second grade.
- Up to five years in prison for each charge of third grade.
The judicial process continues while the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense present the evidence that will be analyzed by the court.
