Vinícius was the star of Brazil’s last 3-0 victory against Scotland by scoring a double, which guaranteed their qualification to the next phase of the 2026 World Cup.

After scoring two goals, there was a play that was invalidated by an alleged foul that could have meant the Brazilian’s hat-trick.

What seemed to be an isolated event had consequences, since the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) He filed a formal complaint with FIFA, in which he expressed his displeasure over the disallowed goal against Vinícius.

The complaint states that there was a refereeing error during the match between Brazil and Scotland, in addition to question the actions of Mexican referee César Ramos.

The sports newspaper Ace had access to the CBF complaint, in which he explains the facts and questions the referee for his decision.

It all started in the 22nd minute, when Vinícius scored the second goal after stealing the ball from a Scottish defender, but the score was annulled due to an alleged foul by the Brazilian.

“Brazil’s disallowed goal against Scotland in the 21st minute does not seem to be in line with the philosophy adopted throughout the competition. It should be noted that the decision seemed unexpected not only for the Brazilian team, but also for the Scottish playerswhose immediate reactions suggested that they had not anticipated a review or the subsequent annulment of the goal,” the CBF letter states.

In the complaint, the CBF clarifies that they “respect the decision-making process” of the referee, but expressed their concern that the criteria are not applied uniformly in each World Cup match.

Regarding the referee, the CBF reiterated that it has experience, but he stressed that he has led other games in which he made questionable decisions.

“He was the referee of Brazil’s match against Switzerland at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, when Switzerland’s tying goal was validated despite a foul committed against the Brazilian defender immediately before the goal“adds the letter.
