The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of Villa Nueva reported that since Friday, June 26, there has been an increase in vehicular mobility heading to the south of the country, mainly towards the route to Peacefuldue to the long weekend for the holiday Army Day.

According to Henry Quevedo, spokesperson for the PMT of Villa Nueva, the vehicle load has remained constant and this Saturday traffic continues to be complicated in several sections.

According to the spokesperson, traffic towards the south is slow from kilometer 20 to kilometer 30 of the route to the Pacific, where the average speed of movement is just 10 kilometers per hour.

This route is used mainly by those heading to destinations in the south and southwest of Guatemala, especially for tourism or rest. Among the most frequent points are:

Accidents aggravate congestion on the Inter-American route
