Brian Estuardo Verbena Martínez accepted this Friday, June 26, to be extradited to the United States, where he is required by that country’s justice system for his alleged participation in eight sexual crimes committed to the detriment of a minor under 13 years of age in Orange County, California, judicial sources reported.
The hearing took place in the Third Criminal Sentencing Court, where the Guatemalan expressed his consent to be handed over to the US authorities, who are demanding him for the crimes of kidnapping, rape and other sexual crimes.
According to the extradition request, the events would have occurred between December 5 and 6, 2025 in the cities of Garden Grove and Santa Ana, in Orange County, California.
The US authorities presented the complaint on December 16, 2025 before the Superior Court of California, a process in which they attribute Verbena Martínez to the commission of eight sexual crimes against the teenager.
With the acceptance of the extradition, the judicial process in Guatemala concludes expeditiously and the person requested will be at the disposal of the competent authorities so that their delivery to the United States can be coordinated.
