With the beginning of long weekendderived from the transfer of the rest period from June 30 to Monday the 29th, and coinciding with the end of the month payment, the National Civil Police (PNC) intensified security operations in different parts of the country to prevent criminal acts and guarantee public order.
The actions are developed inter-institutionally in Jutiapa, Escuintla and Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquezwith the participation of the PNC, the Guatemalan Army and other institutions.
To cite one measure, during the operations, the authorities verify that stores, canteens and bars have the corresponding documentation, in addition to reviewing the identification of people and the solvency of vehicles and motorcycles.

Arsenal found in abandoned building
In another operation, police from Police Station 35 located 11 firearms in an abandoned property located in the Quiebrapatas sector, within the Las Morenas farm, El Paredón Buena Vista village, in Sipacate, Escuintla.
The weapons consist of seven shotguns and four short weapons, which were located thanks to a citizen complaint. The evidence was packaged by the investigating entity for the corresponding analysis, while investigations continue to establish the origin of the weapons.

More arrests for weapons, drugs and attempted murder
Authorities also reported other arrests during the first hours of the security plan.
In the Pueblo Nuevo canton, Palencia, Marco “N”, 42, was captured for illegally carrying a shotgun.
Meanwhile, researchers from the DEIC They arrested Juan “N”, 45 years old, in the Santa María La Paz neighborhood, zone 21 of the capital, accused of the crime of attempted homicide. According to the PNC, the detainee has a history of domestic violence.
In Atescatempa, Jutiapa, SGAIA agents captured Graciela “N”, 57 years old, from whom packages known as “colmillos” containing cocaine were seized.
Likewise, in zone 4 of Retalhuleu, Jonny “N”, 29 years old, was arrested in possession of marijuana and crack.
They capture an alleged extortionist
As part of these operations, agents from Police Station 15 captured Lesly “N”, 27 years old, on 50th Avenue and Petapa Avenue, zone 12 of the capital.
The woman was wanted by a Guatemalan court since April 16 for the crime of extortionreported the PNC.
Safe Traffic Light Plan and Sentinel Plan
The PNC also reported results of the Safe Traffic Light and Sentinel Plan, operations that have been carried out for a long time and will be included as part of the plan for this long weekend.

For his part, the Sentinel Plan accumulate more than 5 thousand people captured and around 500 firearms confiscated for not having the corresponding legal documentation, according to the balance presented by the authorities.
The security forces indicated that the operations will continue throughout the long weekend, with the aim of preventing criminal acts due to the increase in the mobility of people for rest and the payment of end-of-month salaries.
