Nidia Renata Bautista García and Kevin Alexander Jiménez Ambrocio were hit by a car on the night of Sunday, June 28, at the entrance to the Atlántida neighborhood, zone 18 of the capital.

Both were helped and transferred to a hospital of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS), where they receive specialized care.

This Tuesday, June 30, Kevin Alexander Jiménez Ambrocio told Free press and Guatevisión News how the accident occurred, of which some moments were recorded in videos shared on social networks.

Jiménez Ambrocio explained that Nidia Renata Bautista García is his girlfriend and that they were both returning from celebrating her daughter’s birthday when the accident occurred.

He recalled that they were at a gas station in the Atlántida neighborhood, where they were waiting for the right of way, when a car hit the rear of the motorcycle.

“I fell forward, she fell on top of me, I tried to stop, my reaction was to stop, when I tried to stop the car continued accelerating, I only saw that he took my girlfriend under the car, he dragged her, I tried to look for her with another motorcycle, but I couldn’t find her,” Jiménez narrated.

He indicated that the search extended to Martí Street, zone 6, while a relative who was traveling by car searched for her on the La Paz road, but they could not find her.

He then returned to the accident site and still had no information about her. At that moment, two people arrived on a motorcycle and informed him that they had already intercepted the alleged perpetrator and that Nidia Renata Bautista García had been transferred to the IGSS General Accident Hospital.

He added that he was also transferred to the aforementioned care center, where he thanked the attention received.

What is the state of health of both?

As reported by the IGSS on June 30, Nidia Renata Bautista García receives specialized care at the Ceibal General Accident Hospital. During the early hours of this Tuesday she was transferred to Intensive Care Unit 1, where her prognosis remains reserved.

The medical team works constantly to stabilize her and provide her with all the necessary care. The patient has friction burns and amputation of the right arm below the elbow.

Kevin Alexander Jiménez Ambrocio remains in stable condition and under medical observation. He has already undergone surgery for a radioulnar dislocation and, so far, his evolution is favorable, added the IGSS.

What happened to the alleged perpetrator?

A judge on duty ruled that Jorge David Rodas faces criminal proceedings for his alleged responsibility in running over a couple who were traveling on a motorcycle in a sector of zone 18 of the capital.

After hearing the accusation presented by the Public Ministry, the judge resolved that Rodas be investigated for the crimes of attempted homicide and very serious injuries to the detriment of Nidia Renata Bautista García, as well as for the crime of negligent injuries to the detriment of Kevin Alexander Jiménez Ambrocio.
