Convinced that salsa continues to be a living language, capable of evolving and impacting new generations, the members of Grupo Niche are willing to demonstrate why it has become a universal phenomenon, thanks to the emotional, cultural and human depth of its rhythms, lyrics and history.

Its singers, Luis Araque, Alex Torres, Alejandro Íñigo and Fito Echeverría, are responsible for interpreting the group’s hits and new songs with which they break with traditional structures and offer a renewed style, but that preserves the legacy of its founders.

The new album

For the Niche Group, More than wordsis an album that adds a new chapter to his extensive and award-winning career in Latin music and redefines salsa from where it can be told today.

More than words It was published on May 15 and includes nine unreleased songs. It was produced by Yanila Varela, with musical production, arrangements and direction by José Aguirre, one of the fundamental figures in the contemporary evolution of Grupo Niche and composer of all the songs on the project.

The album was recorded between Miami, USA and Cali, Colombia, in studios such as Criteria Recording Studios, Aquabajo Productions and Dohi Studio, with mixing by Carlos Álvarez and mastering by renowned engineer Adam Ayan.

For Grupo Niche, this production started from a premise as simple as it was powerful: salsa does not live only in words, it lives in what happens before, during and after the music.

“These songs have sensations that we Latinos have, that we share and that we dream of. By the way: Colombia and Guatemala have always been connected, so with music it will not be the exception and these pieces can be part of the stories of many people who connect with salsa,” they added.

The songs

According to the musicians of Grupo Niche, More than words is an album that finds an extraordinary balance between tradition and evolution.

  • More than words: It functions as the emotional and conceptual heart of the project. With an elegant, modern and nostalgic sound at the same time, the song explores that point where words are no longer necessary because the connection already exists from another place: looks, silences, shared years and music. The addition of string arrangements by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra amplifies that cinematic and emotional atmosphere, creating one of the album’s most sophisticated moments.
  • Reality-Is: confronts false truths and contemporary social pressures from a critical and skeptical perspective, incorporating an avant-garde sound proposal in its audio engineering design without sacrificing the salsa essence that defines Niche’s DNA.
  • Until my voice fades: It recovers historical elements of the group such as the Cuban tres and traditional trombone sections within an intense and danceable guaracha.
  • Niche Mode: A declaration of identity where salsa, modernity, folklore and dance converge as a collective emotional experience.
  • You had to arrive: Rescues the classic mambo from a contemporary production.
  • Last Night: Relive the romantic sensibility of Grupo Niche from the 1990s with a love story crossed by the age difference and an enveloping instrumentation marked again by the strings of Budapest Scoring Orchestra.
  • Your way: Performed with four voices, the group presents one of the most sensitive pieces on the album: a song about empathy, emotional support and the right of everyone to find happiness, also evoking the sonic identity of Grupo Niche in the late 1980s.
  • Barranquilla is in fashion: Celebrate the cultural energy and vibrant spirit of Barranquilla through a vibrant and deeply Caribbean musical journey.
