Agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) captured a 21-year-old man this Friday, July 3, and referred two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, to a specialized court, accused of allegedly assaulting the passengers of a bus on the Mixco route to Guatemala City on Roosevelt Road, zone 11 of the capital.
The arrest occurred on 14th Avenue and Roosevelt Road, as part of the plan Safe Traffic Lightdeveloped by agents from Police Station 14, according to PNC sources.
According to the PNC, the three suspects were surprised when they allegedly stripped public transportation users of their belongings. During the police intervention, the agents located five cell phones in a backpack, as well as wallets and purses that, according to the authorities, had been stolen moments before under death threats.
The institution reported that two of the victims identified both the alleged perpetrators and the objects that were stolen from them.
Jorge Aguilar Chinchilla, spokesperson for the PNC, indicated that citizen complaints are essential to address these types of events and strengthen the results of the plan. Safe Traffic Light.
The PNC stated that this operation is part of the permanent actions carried out through said plan to prevent and combat assaults on public transportation.
