Tom Holland reveals the confusion he experienced during the filming of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

The Odyssey It is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated film releases for 2026, since it is directed by Christopher Nolan and has an outstanding cast, including Tom Holland.

In an interview with Fandango, the actor commented that during the filming of The Odyssey He had doubts due to the frequent cuts that Nolan ordered, which he initially interpreted as possible disapproval of his work.

Holland related that, during the filming of the first scenes, he came to believe that Nolan was not satisfied with his performance, since the director constantly stopped filming, which began to discourage him.

The constant cuts not only confused him, but also actor Jon Bernthal. In the interview, Holland said that they both asked themselves: “Why does it keep cutting?”, because they thought something was going wrong during the recording, according to Infobae.

“You don’t like what we’re doing?” was one of the questions Holland asked himself. However, a person from the production team explained why Nolan constantly interrupted scenes.

As he explained, the reason was a technical limitation of the recording equipment. IMAX cameras can only record for three continuous minutes, a detail that both Holland and Bernthal were unaware of.

George Cottle, a member of Nolan’s team, explained that the film loader (magazine) of IMAX cameras only allows three minutes of recording. Learning this was a relief to Holland, as he realized that the problem was not his performance, but the limited capacity of the filming system, which required frequent cuts.

Although Nolan had previously worked with IMAX cameras, for Holland it was the first time he used this recording system. In an interview with the magazine GQthe actor highlighted that working with Christopher Nolan has been one of the most significant experiences of his career.

For this film, Christopher Nolan assembled a high-profile cast consisting of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron and Tom Holland. The film will hit theaters in July 2026.

The story will follow Odysseus’ journey after the Trojan War. The character will face various challenges in his attempt to return to Ithaca and reunite with his family.
