Various personalities from music, film and even sports have supported their teams participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, one of the exchanges that drew the most attention was the one starring Fher Olvera, vocalist of Maná, and Liam Gallagher, of Oasis.
It all started before the match between Mexico and England, corresponding to the round of 16, when Gallagher assured that the English team would beat Tricolor 5-0.
In response, Fher Olvera published a message in which he dismissed the British musician’s prognosis: “Don’t stain, get your bearings, man.”
Before the match, Gallagher also wrote on social media: “Every time I’ve been to Mexico, the people have been lovely. I don’t understand all this bad attitude nonsense. Everything will be fine.”
After the match, played at the Mexico City Stadium, England came back and beat the Mexican team 3-2, a result that allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Norway.
Gallagher celebrated the victory with the message: “It’s hard work singing Harry Kane. Come on, England. Come on, Wonderwall.
Although it was thought that the exchange would end there, Fher Olvera referred to the topic again in his Instagram stories.
“It’s not 5-0, wow. Five more minutes and we’ll make them omelette,” he said. He then added: “Respect, Mexico,” in recognition of the national team’s performance, and sent a hug to the English fans.
However, he commented that England were already struggling to maintain the pace during the last 20 minutes of the match. “That’s life; he who scores a goal is the one who wins. Congratulations, Mexico!” he stated.

In another video, in a joking tone, he said again: “Locate yourself, man. 5-0?”, making fun of his first statements that started part of the controversies.
Likewise, other Mexican artists also sent congratulatory messages to the Mexican team.
😂🇲🇽 Fher Olvera did not miss the opportunity to respond to Liam Gallagher.
After Mexico’s 3-2 defeat against England in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, the Maná vocalist shared a video with a message that quickly lit up the networks:
