The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that this Tuesday, July 7, agents neutralized a group of alleged gang members accused of carrying out an armed attack in Izabal.
He added that an arsenal was seized from them. The report shows five captured and one minor remanded.
He added that the prompt action of the Immediate Reaction Group and agents from the 61st Police Station allowed the alleged hitmen to be intercepted.
The PNC points to them as those allegedly responsible for an armed attack against personnel of a beverage distribution company, which occurred on the old railway line in Puerto Barrios, with no injuries reported.
After the incident, agents began a chase that culminated in a home in the El Rastro neighborhood, in Puerto Barrios, where they intercepted the alleged criminals.
Those captured were identified as Luis “N”, 24 years old; Keyla “N”, 29; Jonathan “N,” 19; Darwin “N”, 18, and Josué “N”, 29, who also has an arrest warrant for the crime of personal fraud, issued by a Jalapa court on May 8.

According to the PNC, during the operation a shotgun, four pistols with shots in the chamber and a submachine gun were located.
The weapons will be analyzed by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences to establish whether they have been used in other criminal acts.
According to preliminary investigations, the armed attack would be related to possible extortion.
In addition, the five detainees are identified as alleged members of a criminal structure. The investigation continues.
