Mexico fans are not having a good time after the elimination of their team in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Englandin a tournament where “El Tri” had left very good feelings during his participation.
From the beginning, Mexico was one of the favorites, mainly due to its performance throughout the competition. Since in the group stage they won all their matches, they beat Ecuador in the round of 32 and did not receive a goal in the entire tournament.
That changed on July 5, when the England team, of the hand of Jude Bellingham and Harry Kanedestroyed Mexico’s hopes of advancing in the tournament and, why not?, aspiring to the world championship.
That happened on the field of play, since, outside of it, many moments starring Mexican fans have gone viral, who showed in different ways their frustration and sadness at the elimination of their team from the World Cup.
But one of the moments that attracted the most attention on social networks was the one recorded by former English footballer David Bentley, in which you can see how a group of Mexican fans explicitly threatens him.
The video, which lasts approximately 30 seconds, shows the group of fans while watching Bentley. Then they begin to insult him and make a gesture of cutting his throat towards him.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player also shows how one of the fans tells him: “You’re leaving here dead, bastard.”
Bentley also showed how the Police remained between the two groups of fans, Mexican and English, and responded to the insults of the Mexicans with “Idiots”.
In the end, the former player did not give importance to the situation and took it with humor, but users on social networks expressed rejection of the gestures of the Mexican fans.
